NEWS UPDATE! First graders have completed the crayon initiative and are proud to announce they have collected 138 pounds of used crayons. These will be melted down to create brand new ones. The new crayons will be given to children in hospitals by the Crayon Initiative group. Way to go first graders on a wonderful community service project! The first graders are collecting used crayons to support the Crayon Initiative. The Crayon Initiative melts down old crayons to make new crayons for kids in hospitals. You can send used crayons in any condition, (e.g., wrapped, broken, etc.) to school with your child to be collected in classrooms or you can drop them off in the office.Please do not send new crayons. One of the Crayon Initiative’s goals is to be environmentally friendly by keeping used crayons out of landfills.
