Owen Troxel is a junior at Fairfield Union High School who attends the Eastland campus of Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools. On February 8, he was the student program representative chosen to speak at the Associate School Counselor and Special Education Meeting. Owen explained his lab experience and how he is learning to apply robotics programming and engineering to real-world scenarios that he will encounter in his future career. When asked why Owen chose this career path, he responded, "I was part of the Robotics Club in middle school. It was very interesting to me and when I came to visit Eastland during my sophomore tour, I knew this was where I wanted to be. I plan to go on to college and study in the field." FUHS is proud of Owen and his strong performance and dedication to his lab and in his academic classrooms.The Robotics program at Eastland Career Center is a new program for students this school year. This program prepares students to lead the way in a world of evolving professions with the hybrid of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering. Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical School has more than 35 programs to choose from on their campuses, as well at satellite locations in their associate school districts. Applications for the 2023-24 school year opened on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. The deadline for application is Friday, February 10, 2023. Credits that students are on track to earn at the end of the 2022-23 school year will be evaluated as part of the acceptance criteria. Any program receiving more applications than seats in the program will have a lottery system instituted to ensure equity in the enrollment process. Eastland-Fairfield will be accepting applications using their online application system. Information regarding the application process can be found at: https://www.eastlandfairfield.com/apply.aspx. Additionally, families can attend Open Houses on Thursday, December 1. At this event, families have a chance to learn about all of the programs you are interested in; see live displays and presentations in the labs; meet the teachers, instructors, and administration; talk to students currently building their futures; ask your questions about academics, student life, extracurricular activities, and how EFCTS operates; and journey through the buildings to get a sense of what may become your future home.

Current sophomores interested in attending Eastland-Fairfield Career Center must apply by Friday, March 4 at midnight. With the new application process, it is imperative that students get their applications in by the due date.
