What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Remember when you wondered what you would be when you grew up? First graders in Mrs. Neal's class have some interesting ideas as to what makes a job pretty cool.
In my opinion an artist is a cool job. Artists show young students how to draw things. They also teach kids how to paint and mix colors with the primary colors which the primary colors are red, blue and yellow. In my opinion a mother is a cool job. Mothers have babies in the hospital and the babies are very small. They also feed babies warm milk or juice and water and take care of them. In my opinion a vet is a cool job. Vets help hurt and sick animals. They also do x-rays on animals to see if they are doing good and they give shots to animals and some vets have to go to farms. In my opinion a scientist is a cool job. Scientists make very cool thing they make potions. They also have discovered that if you suck on peppermint it will make you smarter. In my opinion a teacher is a cool job. Teachers help young students learn how to write. They also show kids how to read books or poems and paragraphs. In my opinion a doctor is a cool job. Doctors help kids who are very sick. They also give sometimes cherry medicine and give pills or gross medicine and yummy medicine.

Scientists make colorful potions and find dinosaur bones and try to figure out what dinosaur it came from. They also make creations that can help you figure stuff out. In my opinion a fireman is a cool job. Fireman helps people whose home is on red fire. They also help people who are in the fire they help them. In my opinion a doctor is a cool job. Doctors help kids who are sick or hurt something. They also help kids who have medical problems who need medicine or need to take white pills. In my opinion a police officer is a cool job. Police Officers help people when there is a really bad burglar. They also help people who have been robbed at a bank. In my opinion a mother is a cool job. Mothers help kids when they are hungry and buy them toys. They also take really good care of them.

Valentines Day Poems
First graders are using their typing skills they are learning in keyboarding to publish their poems about Valentine's Day. Using the Chrome book cart, each student was able to type up their poem, change the font size and color and proudly display their poems. Here are some finished products.

First Graders in Mrs. Anderson's, Mrs. Ruff's and Mrs. Neal's class read the story Gram and Me this week and focused on comparing the relationship the characters had with one another. Furthermore, the students celebrated the 100th day of school. To combine the two events the students used an app to age themselves 100 years and completed a writing prompt to describe themselves and their lives when they turn 100. Their age progressed photos are hanging in our hallways. Finally, they completed an art project that used a brown bag to portray their image in 100 years and then they compared that to their photo.

Ever wondered what it would be like to be a scarecrow? Mrs. Anderson's first grade students wrote about it and made their own scarecrows.
