Off to a great start for 2022!

Students in Mrs. McCandlish’s Kindergarten class have gotten off to a great start. We have been learning our alphabet, numbers, social skills, colors, and how to be Fantastic Falcons! This past week we learned about apples by tasting, graphing, stamping with paint, and reading about them. We also enjoyed fresh and warm applesauce made from apples from Hugus Fruit Farm.

Students Branch Out Learning about Choice Boards

Third graders in Mrs. McCandlish’s class did their first “choice board” for the year. We read a text about animal homes and the students chose and researched an animal from the text. Following this, they chose to either make a poster, an acrostic, a diorama or a puppet to share what they had learned. Students finished up with short presentations.

Mrs. McCandlish's Social Studies Class News

Third graders have been busy learning about maps in social studies. We recently created landform maps out of salt dough. The finishing touches were painting them and making a map key to go with them.

Students also used their map skills to answer questions about places like the World of Fortnite, the Magic Kingdom, and Washington D.C.

Mrs. McCandlish's Class studies "Charlotte's Web"

Mrs. McCandlish’s class finished up their SEL study of “Charlotte’s Web” recently. Students made their own spiders, made an art with a word in the web, as well as experimented with making balloonist spiders like those in the story.

3rd Grade Social Studies Walk

Third graders recently took a walk around the village of Bremen to practice their map reading skills, learn about some of the local history, as well as discuss landforms in the area.
