The Ohio Department of Health has issued an order that requires K-12 schools to report and notify parents/guardians and local health departments when students, teachers, staff members or coaches test positive for COVID-19. The order also states that parents and guardians are encouraged to report positive cases to schools.
The district is also working with the Fairfield county Health Department regarding all active cases. FCHD will handle all contact tracing and will be the organization contacting families about who will be asked to quarantine as opposed to the school. FCHD will also determine a student/staff member may return to school. Confidentiality laws prohibit disclosure of individuals’ identity. If you receive a call or message from your local health department, please answer or return the call and provide as thorough and accurate information as possible to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
Fairfield Union has launched a COVID-19 Reporting dashboard to help inform our community of COVID-19 related illnesses. Data will be updated every Thursday by 5 PM. Categories tracked will include: Active Student Cases and Active Staff Cases by building. In the event of a positive case, the district will notify students in the affected building via an email from the school notification system. Families are asked to help us in COVID-19 reporting by contacting your child’s school as soon as possible in the event of a COVID-19 event.
Everyone at Fairfield Union is working hard to keep our students/staff safe, healthy and in school. It is important to remember that exposure can happen anytime/place when people are in close contact with each other. Please be very diligent in following the CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at home, school and while out in the community.

Perform a daily health check before sending your student to school
Cover your mouth and nose with a mask when around others
Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily
Practice social distancing
Always cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze
Wash your hands frequently
The symptoms listed are those most often identified among people who test positive for COVID-19. More Common/High Risk symptoms are seen more frequently among people who are confirmed to have COVID-19 and may be the only symptoms a person develops. Less Common /Low Risk symptoms have been identified and associated with people who are confirmed to have COVID-19, but a less specific to COVID-19
A fever of 100.4° F or higher is the threshold that needs to be met for a person to stay homme or be sent home for possible COVID-19. At Fairfield Union our policy requires any student with a temperature of 100°F or higher to stay home or be sent home. Students with a fever for any reason should stay home until they are fever free without medication for at least 24 hours
Any student experiencing diarrhea or vomiting will be sent home or needs to stay home until symptom free for at least 24 hours.
New onset means that the symptom is not something that is experienced or a regular basis or is associated with a pre-existing condition.
