FCCLA @ Regional Competition - 2024

Members of the Fairfield Union FCCLA attended the 2024 Regional Competition on March 16 at Mid-East Career Center.

2023 December Events

CANDY GRAMS AND DONUTS
Members of the Key Club raised money by selling Candy Grams and donuts. The money raised was used to purchase Christmas for a boy at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and his family.

Key Club Members also volunteered to "Ring the Bell" for the annual Salvation Army project.

2023 Cookie Baking

Key Club and NHS members baked 60 dozen cookies for the Bremen Food Pantry on Saturday, December 2, 2023. The cookies will be distributed to families in the community by FFA members.

2023 - Pumpkin Fun

Members of the Key Club recently decorated pumpkins and delivered them to Buckeye Care and Rehabilitation for everyone to enjoy.  (Some of the pumpkins were donated and decorated by National Honor Society members.)

New Staff for 2022-2023









Hannah Penrose is one of the new ag teachers at the program this year. She graduated from Van Buren High School and grew up in Findlay, Ohio. She lived on a small family farm raising chickens, turkeys, and dairy goats. She also attended Wilmington College and received a degree in Agricultural Education and Animal Science in December of 2022.  During high school she was active in FFA, Jr. Fair Board, 4-H, and Camp Counselor. This is her first year teaching and very excited for her freshman classes!

Also joining Fairfield Union in the Agriculture department is Dakota Brame.  Dakota graduated form The Ohio State University in the spring of 2022 with a degree in Agri-science Education. He grew up in southern Perry county on his family farm growing crops and raising beef cattle. He was active in the FFA at New Lexington high school through out all 4 years of high school as well as the Jr. Fair board for Perry County from when his age allowed it through 2017 when he graduated high school.  He is now an active member of the New Lex FFA Alumni and looks forward to working all the students in the coming year.

3/10/2023 DECA State Competition Results


On March 10, 2023, Nora Vail, Layla Williams, Chloe Griggs, Lyza Vail and Alaina Smith competed in the Ohio Career Developement Conference.  Nora and Layla competed in Travel and Tourism, Chloe and Lyza competed on the Hospitatly Services Team, and Alaina Smith competed in the Food Marketing Series.

The Travel and Tourism team were finalists and Alaina Smith placed 2nd which qualified her for DECA International Career Development Conference in April.  Alaina is the first student from Fairfield Union to qualify for the ICDC.

2022 National FCCLA Fall Leadership Conference

2023 FCCLA Week

During FCCLA Week, members conducted a drive for hygiene and cleaning products to be donate to Faith Mission of Fairfield County.  Students collected around 100 items to help those in need.  FCCLA member, Brady Mason, brought in the most items.  This project was headed up by Bree Tharp, Jillian Starner, and Layla Williams.

2023 Blood Drive

Fairfield Union Key Club hosted a Blood Drive with the Red Cross on February 22, 2023.  The red cross was able to collect 22 units.  This number included nine first-time donors and one stuent who donated Power Reds. The minimum number of days between blood donations is 56, two students were just a day early and could not donate again.  Since the pandemic, the Red Cross is short on donations . . . for more information on donating blood visit the Red Cross website:

2022 Costumes for Caring Day

This Halloween, the Fairfield Union High School chapter of the National Honor Society completed a fundraiser to raise money for local families in need.  On Friday the 28th of October, the group organized a dress up day. Dressing up was for staff and students alike! During the school day, students could “Trick or Treat” in the halls of the school exchanging donations for treats. The staff member with the most money at the end of the day declared victory over all! The victorious teacher was Mr. Perdew with a close second place by Mr. Alford. The group raised over $600! All of those generous donations will go directly to families in the Fairfield Union community! Thank you so much for your support! FFA Students Tour Westerman's Inc.

Junior and Senior FFA students at Fairfield Union attended an industry tour at Westerman's Inc. on Wednesday November 30, 2022. This industry tour provided students a first hand look at the fabrication process. A special thanks to Westerman's Inc, Fairfield 33 alliance, and Fairfield ESC for working with our students.

Fairfield Union Graduates Receive National Honor

 

LANCASTER, OH – The National FFA Convention is a nationwide convention and expo that provides growth opportunities for next-generation leaders. At the 7th session of the 95th National FFA Convention, six of ten American Degree recipients from the Fairfield Union FFA chapter were recognized amongst the 440 Ohio recipients and 4,305 national recipients. Less than 1% of FFA members earn this honor in their FFA careers. Recipients recognized in attendance were Allison Baker, Brayden Barber, Nickolas Barrett, Brooklyn DeFazio, Nathaniel McCandlish, and Alyssa Swick. Those recipients who were unable to attend were Colt Dennis, Jeffery King, Joshua Starner, and Trevor Thomas. All of the students were 2021 graduates of Fairfield Union High School. These students now join the 91 total American Degree recipients for the Fairfield Union FFA chapter, which was chartered in 1962.


The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, comprises 850,823 FFA members, aged 12-21, in 8,995 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The high school student council provides funding for student activities for homecoming festivities along with other student-related events.

Bremen Food Pantry

The Bremen Food Pantry served 53 families in the Bremen and Rushville communities on Saturday October 22nd. Helping with putting the food in the automobiles as they drove in were members of the Fairfield Union golf team. They were assisted by Head Golf Coach Brian Oliver and Assistant Coach Ty McCafferty. Also, some parents assisted with the final preparation of food items. Putting the bags of food in the autos were two Fairfield Union FFA members, Brock Morgan and Bryce Campbell. Thanks to all the people who worked at the food pantry today. Your continued service is greatly appreciated by all.       Loren Young

2021 Graduate Nate McCandlish Represents Fairfield Union at 2022 FFA Convention

The National FFA Convention is a nationwide convention and expo that provides growth opportunities for next-generation leaders. The Fairfield Union FFA Chapter has exceptional leaders and will be competing at the convention in the proficiency category this year. 


The agricultural proficiency award honors FFA members who exemplify and develop specialized skills within their supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs) that apply to their future careers. Nathaniel McCandlish, a 2021 graduate, is one of four national finalists in his proficiency area of Turfgrass Management. Nathaniel completed his supervised agricultural experience in an entrepreneurship project where he created his own lawn care business, McCandlish Lawn and Landscape, which is now flourishing. Nathaniel has worked over 1,500 hours and invested the majority of his earnings back into his business. From hiring classmates to earning LLC status, Nathaniel has worked diligently to make his business sustainable and profitable. Nathaniel will be competing in the National FFA Convention & Expo on October 26-28th, 2022, in Indianapolis, Indiana. We are proud of his accomplishments and wish Nathaniel the best of luck.

2022 Horse Judging Team places 5th at Regional Competition

Congratulations to the equine judging team for placing 5th at the Big E competition on September 17 at the University of Connecticut. Emma Daubenmire, sophomore, placed 3rd overall individual in the contest. This was the first time the Fairfield Union FFA has competed at the Big E. Congrats ladies!

Fairfield Union Competes at the Big E 2022

For the first time in Fairfield Union history, an FFA team has qualified to compete at the Big E as an Ohio FFA team representative. The students will compete at the Big E on September 17, 2022 in Springfield, Massachusetts. We are proud of their accomplishments and wish the team the best of luck. The qualifying team consists of 2022 graduate Jadin Triplett, juniors Mackenzie Chilcote and Ella Kimball, and sophomore Emma Daubenmire.
